A charming mid-Victorian walnut tripod table, circa 1860 to 1870, of neat, slender proportions and wonderfully sculptural form. The circular top has a softly moulded edge and sits above a delightful scalloped apron punctuated by small turned pendant finials, a lovely Gothic-influenced detail that lifts it well above the ordinary. The pillar is turned in a bold barley-twist, rising from a collared base to three gracefully swept cabriole legs, each carved at the shoulder with foliate decoration and finishing in scrolled feet of good, crisp outline. The walnut has aged to a warm, honeyed chestnut brown with a soft, glowing patina from generations of waxing and polishing, and the top carries the gentle surface marks you would expect of a piece that has been used and enjoyed for well over a century. Its slim footprint makes it wonderfully adaptable, equally suited beside a sofa or armchair as a lamp table, in a hallway as a display table, or in a bedroom as an occasional table, where it would happily hold a vase of flowers. Light, elegant and full of Victorian charm, a most appealing little table in good original condition.

All furniture items require FREIGHT SHIPPING or DELIVERY, which is an additional charge based on location and size of the items.
